Our Mission
The mission of Youth-Reach Costa Rica is to provide young people with a refuge filled with hope, love, and new possibilities. We focus on serving the needs of those who are hurting and who lack hope. We do this in various ways by doing community outreach, serving the needs of residential ministries/children’s homes, and with our plans to create a residential program/home to address the needs related to trauma and hopelessness.
Hope & Good News
YRCR aims to bring hope and the good news of what God has done for us through Christ’s finished work on the cross, and to bring healing and peace to those who want or need it.
We don’t consider ourselves to be “religious”, but we do practice living a life of faith, prayer, and loving others; as Jesus demonstrated to us over 2000 years ago when he freely gave his life to heal and restore lives.
Family Environment & a Safe Community
At YRCR, we will offer a healthy and safe family environment for our residents that will allow for the time needed to heal and grow. From our trained staff to the network of skilled professionals, we hope to create the feeling of a family, a “home” vs. an “institutional” way of living.

Our Team
Shane & Abby Holcomb
Shane and Abby Holcomb are leading the exciting new launch of Youth-Reach Costa Rica! They met in 2005 when Shane was serving on staff at Youth-Reach Houston, and are no strangers to Youth-Reach.
While visiting Costa Rica in September of 2021, Shane and Abby listened to their Costa Rican “Tico” friend, David Massey share about the cry of a generation of boys and young men who are being lost to hopelessness and suicide. As a former Youth-Reach Counselor, Shane was familiar with this cry, and decided to call his old friend and mentor, Curt Williams. Out of a series of conversations the vision of Youth-Reach Costa Rica was birthed.
After returning home from their trip, the Holcombs decided to take a step of faith and answer the call put within their hearts to pursue opening a Youth-Reach in Costa Rica.
Shane values community, teamwork, and surrounds himself with a band of brothers wherever he serves. He recognizes the importance of relationships and stewarding them. Building teams and walking with people through difficult seasons of their lives are two areas in which he thrives.
Abby, a Marriage and Family Therapist, was raised in Cali, Colombia by missionary parents, and has spent the last decade counseling with Latin American families in Nashville, TN. Her professional experience coupled alongside her long standing relationships in Costa Rica are very instrumental in opening the door for Youth-Reach.
In May of 2022, the Holcombs said goodbye to their home and friends in Tennessee and moved to Costa Rica to become missionaries!
Edwin & Leo
Edwin serves as the Outreach Coordinator for YRCR. He is a gifted leader and communicator, and has a passionate heart towards loving others and watching them grow into healthy, vibrant young adults. His ability to share the gospel in an easy and palatable way to young people is truly an admirable gift. Along with his wife, Leo, they love to mentor and lead groups on outreaches and they bring a powerful impact to wherever they go.
